Here she is (on Tuesday September 2nd, 2008) with her Homework assignment for the first day (ya know - kinda like when you go to college - haha) The assignment was "What I did over my summer break". So we went through our pictures and she chose ones she wanted for a collage, then I printed them and she helped me put them together on a poster board.
"What I did over my summer break was...
Swimming in lakes and pools, Camping,
Boating, Hiking
and at the end of the summer
being a Real Cheerleader at
a real High School football game!"
(see Sienna's blog for details)
She hung her coat and backpack up on her hook and was ready for the day.
She is so cute - when it came time to go into her classroom, she turned to me and said, "~K~ Mom ... Love you - bye!" and ran off. I actually had to call her back to me to give me a hug and kiss goodbye. It is great that she is so independent and ready to spread her wings, but it was a little hard to have her be THAT comfortable.Swimming in lakes and pools, Camping,

After roll was taken, the kids sat around the piano and did "The Rhythms". This is where the teacher, Mrs. Jensen, plays a variety of songs on the piano and then they all engage in playful activities.
Then after reciting The Pledge of Allegiance, the kids were ready to begin whatever projects were lined up for that day.
Wonderful Little Americans!
~~It has been a couple of weeks now and Sienna is already excelling in her school work. She loves her class so much and her dad and I are very proud of her! She has such a great time that she actually has a hard time on the weekends when she can't go to school. We hope that this passion for school sticks with her - through junior high, high school and college.

Such a fun age. Emily was always really independent as well. I agree that it is sometimes hard for not to be just a tiny bit more needy. Overall, I think it is great to have independent girls in this day and age.
Take Care!
